In and around Redwood City, California, there are some amazing street art installations. Upon close inspection, it appears that something is off with them. There are moments when flowers appear from bike racks, mailboxes cast enormous shadows, and parking meters display shadows resembling monkeys.
Before you get too attached to them, let me tell you that they are the creation of San Francisco Bay Area-based graphic designer Damon Belanger. He has been commissioned to infuse Redwood City’s downtown with more creativity. It appears that he was successful in doing so. Prior to painting, stencils are drawn on the sidewalk using chalk.
